While I like the idea of inspiration, it is lacking significantly in the base game of Dungeons and Dragons 5e. As a result I’ve made some changes to the idea of Heroic Inspiration and added in Heroic Tokens as a more powerful, but less obtained form of Inspiration.

Heroic Inspiration

When you roll a critical success on any d20 Test you automatically receive a point of Heroic Inspiration, if you already possess one, you can send it to another player of your choice. This point of Heroic Inspiration can be used to either give yourself advantage or to re-roll a d20 Test as a straight roll (if you re-roll you must use the new roll). Heroic Inspiration is limited to one point per character at a time. Heroic Inspiration is also only temporary, you lose any unspent Heroic Inspiration at the end of a long rest.

Heroic Tokens

Each player will receive ONE heroic token at the start of the campaign. This can be used to act as advantage on any roll that you wish (regardless of dice used). However, once its used. Its gone… The only way to gain back a heroic token is to complete a character quest, at thematic points for your character. However, if you still have a Heroic Token, another cannot be gained.
